Best Graphics Settings Red Dead Redemption 2

Trying to find the Best Graphics Settings for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC can be a bit tricky. With decent hardware we have become so used to going for Ultra or High settings in games that when a developer like Rockstar releases a PC port of a game like Red Dead Redemption 2 and provides a massive dive into their graphics engine settings we jump straight in, set everything to max and then wonder why the game performs so badly.

I’ve recently started streaming games and getting the FPS stable is very important, especially when using a single PC setup. Even with default settings, the FPS were jumping constantly – leading to a very poor streaming and recording experience.

I have modest system specs for a single PC streamer:

  • Intel i5 8400
  • 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 RAM
  • MSI GeForce RTX 2060 Gaming Z 6 Graphics Card#
  • MSI Z370-A PRO Motherboard

In a recent post by Eurogamer – they took a deep dive into the graphics settings and most importantly, tried to identify what settings would give PC owners the equivalent graphical experience of the Xbox One X version of the game which clearly pushed the technology as far as it could go.

Eurogamer however in my opinion didn’t do a very good job of making the results easy to read and apply so I’ve taken the time to just grab their suggestions, pop them into the game and then screenshot the results to hopefully make it easier for you to try them.

I’ve found that firstly by taking these results as the minimum (Hey if it’s good for Xbox One X then it’s good for PC right?) and then tweaking up from there to find the exact quality/performance point I was happy with has worked very well.

Hopefully these settings will help get you started in terms of getting the Best Graphics Settings for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC but if not, I’d love to hear from you in the comments! Thanks for reading.
